When a Retreat Becomes Something More…

I’ve just returned from hosting my annual Goddess Retreat in the peaceful hills of Spain’s Penedès region near Barcelona — and it’s hard to put into words what actually happens on these retreats.

Yes, there’s yoga, nourishing food, sunshine, and rest. But the real magic? It’s what unfolds quietly between the women who come together — the conversations, the laughter, the breakthroughs, and the moments of stillness that shift something deep inside.

A Retreat That Felt Like Coming Home

This year felt extra special because all seven women had been on retreat with me before.

The moment they arrived, it was as if we’d just picked up where we left off. There was an ease, a flow — like spending a long weekend with friends. No pressure to be anything other than yourself.

What struck me most was how everyone supported one another — offering advice, listening, laughing, holding space when things felt tender. It reminded me that when women come together in a nurturing, non-judgmental space, powerful things happen.

Where Movement Meets Stillness

Our yoga sessions took place in a bright, airy studio filled with natural light — a calm sanctuary.

The practice was never about perfection; it was about presence. Each morning we moved gently, honouring our energy and reconnecting with our breath. In the evenings, we journaled, which offered time to reflect, accompanied by restorative sessions to invite deep rest and release, — the kind of stillness that nourishes your whole system.

“I knew I would be in good hands with Rebecca, having already attended a previous retreat — but this one was even better than I hoped!
I really enjoy Rebecca's teaching style and hands-on guidance. At the same time, she is such a warm and caring person; she just makes me feel safe and well accompanied (including through some of the more daring yoga poses!).
The retreat location was sublime, very peacefully nestled in the Penedès vineyards, and the private chef almost made me want to go full vegetarian, his food creations were so good… Great retreat experience!”

Moments That Stay With You

Between classes, we shared long, laughter-filled meals prepared by our wonderful private chef (his giant paella feast was a highlight for everyone!). We walked through the vineyards to a hidden waterfall, journaled by the pool, and took time for Reiki, rest, and reflection.

This year I also offered complimentary 1:1 Reiki and oracle/tarot sessions — something new — and they were received beautifully. Each woman’s session brought clarity, calm, and a few big realisations that rippled through the group in the most positive way.

“Amazing transformational experience under Rebecca’s experienced yoga teachings.
I feel recharged and clear-headed, ready for the next chapter in my life.
Thank you for your guidance.”

Sarah, 2025 Retreat Guest

It’s these simple, unhurried moments — the ones you can’t plan — that often stay with us the longest.

Looking Ahead

As I look back, I’m filled with deep gratitude — for the women who continue to show up year after year, and for the space we’ve created together.

These retreats are personal, intimate, and deeply restorative — a chance to pause, breathe, and reflect in a way that everyday life rarely allows.

If reading this makes you think, “Next year, I want to be there,” now’s the time to pencil it in.

Rebecca Dobson

Rebecca founded GetCalmer in 2001, with a vision to pass on her knowledge and passion of holistic therapies to others and ultimately to help people "get calmer".

Having a sales background, Rebecca knew only too well the stressful effects that working in a pressurised environment can have on the body, and how little people take care of themselves.

With this in mind, Rebecca followed her passion and spent a year re-training in various holistic therapies, including massage and Reiki, gaining experience working privately, in spa’s and practicing onsite massage in the workplace.

Since completing her Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training in 2006, Rebecca has been taught by many worldwide accredited yoga teachers over the years, including Claire Missingham, Kathryn Budig, Jason Crandell and the most influential Dr. Francoise Freedman, Director and Founder of Birthlight. All of which have shaped her in to the yoga teacher she is today. Rebecca would describe herself as a down to earth teacher and therapist who is personable, creative, patient and intuitive. She lightly weaves yoga philosophy and anatomy into her classes, making them well-rounded and accessible. In her opinion, yoga isn’t just about busting a pose, it’s so much more than that; yoga can help you understand yourself, others and the world we live in; all you need is an open mind.

Rebecca’s next mission is to spread the word to every Woman on the profound benefits of yoga to help improve and enhance Women’s health. Who knows at this point where it will lead her, but I bet you any money it’ll be something truly exciting!
